Shoulder Season is a static website. We don't run accounts, and we don't sell or share personal information.

Powder alerts

If you sign up for powder alerts on the Snow Report, we store your email, home mountain and snowfall threshold in Cloudflare KV so we can email you when that mountain's forecast crosses your threshold. Confirmation and alert emails are not sent until we turn sending on. Unsubscribe will be in every alert email, or email [email protected].

If you sign up for the weekly email, your email address is collected and stored by our newsletter provider, beehiiv, which sends the emails and may record opens and clicks. You can unsubscribe with the link in any email. The signup form loads beehiiv scripts on our pages.

Hosting

The site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes technical request data (such as IP address and browser type) to deliver and protect the site. We don't run Google Analytics or advertising trackers; the affiliate scripts below are the only third-party scripts besides the newsletter form and maps.

Your location

The "Show my location" button on our maps uses your browser's location only after you tap it. Your position is drawn on the map on your device and is never sent to us or stored.

Maps and data

Map tiles load from third-party servers (USGS, OpenTopoMap, Esri, OpenStreetMap, OpenSnowMap, Waymarked Trails), which see normal request data for the tiles they serve.

Affiliate links

Some links (for example Viator) are affiliate links, labelled where they appear. We also use Travelpayouts Drive, a script that loads from Travelpayouts on every page and may turn links to travel sites (flights, hotels, tours, car rental) into affiliate links. When you click an affiliate link, Travelpayouts and the partner may set cookies to credit us for a booking or purchase. Their privacy policies apply.

Offline app

If you install the site as an app, pages you view are cached on your device so they work offline. Clearing site data removes them.
